A few months ago I organized a couple of guys to help with the bush clearing on the top section of the property. Just before lunch, Watson and I went to shop to get some food and on the way we say a funky looking dude walking down the road, strumming away at his guitar. We stopped to chat to him and found out that his name is Ben10. As we were finishing up for the day, Watson and Benten arrived and it wasn’t long before they started jamming.
It’s been seven and a half months since I took the plunge and moved to the farm from Cape Town. Living off-grid in a tent has been a wonderful experience and in the short time I’ve been back in the Garden Route, I am 100% convinced that this is where I need to be. I could pinpoint it to all the amazing people I’ve met, how it seems that every time I leave the camp site, I meet someone new – who is either a potential mentor, friend (in many cases both) or on a similar journey. Or I could attribute it the amazing nature that surrounds us, or the crazy amount of talented musicians, or the beaches, forests, hikes. Or maybe it’s all of the above. Either way, I’m here to stay. This is my new home and I can’t be happier.
